DD47 SLOWS “Slows” S/T debut full length LP (Pressing of 300 only)

Next Up on Deep Distance comes the second record from “Slows”, the solo project of musician/producer Matthew Simms.

Following 2015’s purely Farfisa based 10” single which sold out in a week; the full length here draws upon hours of endless home recordings of improvised modular synth and farfisa organ, processed and distressed through old analog delays and reverbs and formed of two side long sound collages.

Repetitive, Cosmic and minimal!

Drones and arrangements of the likes of Terry Riley, JD Emmanuel and “Dreamweapon” era Spacemen 3.

Matthew has also been a member of Wire since 2010 (adding his distinctive guitar and synth parts to 2013’s acclaimed “Change Becomes Us” LP, 2015's Self titled 'Wire' and 2016's “Nocturnal Koreans“)

For the past 10 years leading It Hugs Back, he has released 4 varied albums of lo-fi pop with a fifth on the way.

He has also added guitar to the last Bill Fay album, as well as a soundtrack to the film “Suzanne” by Electrelane’s Verity Susman.

This year has seen him record the new WIRE record for release in 2017, make a record for Editions Mego with Graham Lewis (WIRE), Thighpaulsandra and Valentinna Magalletti (Tomaga), produce and mix the next Chastity Belt album for release on Hardly Art/Sub Pop and even found himself on stage in London collaborating with Michael Rother of Neu! And Harmonia.

A beautiful record released in an edition of 300 only, released on what previously was an offshoot label to Great Pop Supplement; which since that closed it’s doors (in summer 2016) rapidly moves up a gear, building on an already healthy back catalogue featuring the likes of Cavern of Anti-Matter, Sula Bassana, JD Emmanuel, Colin Potter (NWW), Expo 70 and Listening Center amongst others….
